Maintaining Quality Drives Business Value

While speed of delivery is the rationale behind iterative development in Sprints, it must never be achieved by skimping on quality. Quality is an integral component of business value; a defective product will not deliver the expected value, and may even cause reputational risk. Scrum maintains quality by the continuous process of “inspect and adapt”.

All code written is tested and improved during development; it is not developed and then tested later, as would happen in a conventional project. Errors are found and removed early, and code is often re-tested in later Sprints, as the product develops.

The ability to request changes during development also maintains quality as well as aligning with the latest business requirements.
