Implementing an Agile Project Case Study
Agile projects focus on the immediate value delivered to end users and customers while simultaneously minimizing project management overhead. Implementation of Agile features are an iterative process after project initiation, starting with refining the product backlog and finishing with releasing features to production. Traditional implementations are sequential in nature with all requirements committed to production at the end of the project.
Agile implementation methodologies rely on having self-organizing teams who will also use the iterative process for continuous improvement through each sprint. Agile principles highlight the need to be adaptive to change instead of following a prescriptive plan. Traditional teams do not have this opportunity for multiple improvement cycles as each phase happens only once during the project.
Implementing an Agile project moves from Initiation and involves the following steps:
- Refining the Prioritized backlog
- Sprint Planning
- Sprint Execution
- Sprint Review and
- Feature release into production (Items 1-5 repeat for the life of the project).
