Stakeholder involvement in Scrum
Scrum does an excellent job in providing a framework for the roles that are important in product delivery. The Product Owner, the Scrum Master and the Scrum Team are core to the delivery of the minimum viable product. This Minimum Viable Product must meet the needs of the organization. In every project and product delivery, there are stakeholders. In Scrum, the Product Owner is the primary stakeholder
Additional stakeholders can be any of the following:
- Any individual with direct or indirect responsibility for a product after delivery.
- End users who are directly impacted by the quality of delivery.
- Individuals who are providing resources and management expertise.
- Groups with responsibility for application support like a Help desk.
- A sponsor or group of sponsors who provide funding for the delivery of the product.
Each of these roles can be categorized into distinct groups:
- Purchasers
- End Users
- Managers
- Partners
In Scrum, it is the role of the Product Owner to represent the end users and purchasers. The Scrum Master will engage with Managers and Partners to ensure that any requests or roadblocks that arise during the delivery of the product are addressed.
