What is a Communication Plan?

A communication plan for Scrum is one of the most important keys to a successful project and was clearly needed in the scenario above. The plan details how you will communicate with your team, what type of meetings you will have, the frequency and length of the meetings, and the roles of each team member.

Framework

A typical communication plan will include a planning meeting, daily stand-up, sprint meetings, and a retrospective in which the team reviews the work and process of the sprints. At these meetings, it’s important to decide who should be included. This is critical as sometimes executive team members can halt and derail progress if they need to be consulted for everyday task completion.

When beginning the development of a communication plan, define and communicate your team’s roles. Too often projects are stalled because members are unclear who they should go to for support, approval, or just general information.
